Buttered Garlic Shrimp

***This post is dedicated to my brother, Mark.

As I was preparing my bazaar stall last Friday night, I received a text message from Mark asking me how to cook Buttered Shrimp. That was around 7pm. It was hot and I was in a hurry so I thought of just answering him right after I finish. I totally forgot and only remembered around 11pm. My brain was visualizing Mark staring at a platter of uncooked shrimp waiting for my answer. lol!

So here it is Marky!

Ingredients:

1tbsp. oil
1 whole garlic head, minced 1/4 cup butter in other words just 1/4 of a whole slab of butter 2 packets of catsup, I know you have plenty of those lying around (the ones you get from take outs) 1/2 kg shrimp
3tbsp. sugar
1tbsp. salt
a packet of chili sauce is optional

Procedure:

1. Make sure that your pan is hot before you put the oil. I don't know why but that's just a habit. lol!
2. Put garlic as soon as you see the oil sizzling.
3. Add in butter when garlic turns light brown.
4. As the butter melt add in catsup, sugar, salt and chili sauce.
5. Mix mix.
6. Add shrimps when the butter has melted and is completely mixed with the catsup.
7. Don't mix. After 3 minutes turn the shrimp to it's other side.
8. Taste. You can add more sugar if you want it sweeter.
9. Let it simmer for 5 minutes over low heat.

You all know that my baby gave birth to six adorable puppies. Even if we want to keep them all, we just can't :(

Available are 4 female and 2 male puppies. They were born on April 11, 2009. All have been dewormed, given vitamins everyday and very well taken care of. They are available for releasing on their 2nd month (June 11, 2009), 5 in 1 vaccination would have been administered by then.

Been out for months!  lol! Anyway, Schnuzle, one of our babies gave birth to six cute puppies a month ago.  It's her third litter but this was the only time we were aware of the pregnancy and because of that she was one healthy momma!

The first time was in April 2006, sadly out of seven pups, only one survived :(  She was depressed for a while.   The second was on November 2006, she was weak and depressed.  Weak because six puppies were sucking all the nutrition away from her!  Depressed because we cut her long hair.  lol!

Just because we don't want her getting depressed again, we had to keep Baxi away from the two girls everytime they're in heat.  We finally gave in this time, lol!

Proper nutrition was given, she's really healthy this time, and was only weak for a day.

Home Alone

Again.

Husband is away for a week and the cold weather makes me miss him.

When I got home from the airport. . . actually its from the airport to my mom's house to my best friend's clinic to the mall . . . okay so when I got back home from the mall I saw his jacket dumped on one of the dining chair. It smelled so good I just had to hug it, lol! I don't usually miss him much when he's away, but that scent just triggered it.

Then the next day silly me included it in my wash. Now I have to wait until Wednesday to hug the real thing.

I know it's late and I've been MIA for a month! Been busy with a lot of things, bazaars left and right for one, last minute Christmas shopping, the holidays, my birthday and spending time with the family.

Christmas Eve dinner was spent at mom's place. Alf & I were home by 11pm, watched DVD and had some snacks.

Prepared lunch and got together with cousins for my birthday :)

We are sixteen cousins on my father's side of the family. Only four are girls. Two are beautiful half Arabic girls living in Dubai and the other two is myself and Abi living here in the Philippines. Oh and did I mention that I am the eldest among all the cousins? I just think it's cool :)

Had the chance to spend a day in Tagaytay with my brothers, their family and mom. . .

Alf & I spent New Year's eve at home. . .

Home made Pavlova for dessert. Yumm!
We will miss the decors, now our house would look totally bare without these. . .

Oh well, let's see what plants can do ;-)

Coffee Addict

Not me.  Coffee tends to make me sleepy, could it be because I drink around 3 strong cups of it when I was 13 just to keep me awake during late night studying? Hmmm...

I had a couple of thriving basil pots a couple of months ago until husband accidentally dropped something on one of the pots.  A few days later Alf came to me and said, "I think one of your basil is dying". I was in shock, it was already dry and bent.  So I said "It's dying anyway, why don't you throw the leftover coffee granules from the Coffee Press?"

And so he did.  A few days later it was straight (without me putting any stick to keep it up) and the leaves were beautiful and glossy.

I did not know that Coffee was good for plants,  I just had that idea because I saw packs of used Coffee Granules for free at Starbucks.

I passed by Starbucks last night and was given a huge bag of coffee grains! I thought it was just too much, but I finished it all up today on old plants and some new ones we got today.  Let's see what happens, one of my basil is dying already, I'll take pictures this time and post it on another entry.  :)

My Space

I have been on the look out for a good vanity table ever since husband and I moved in, even mentioned it here months ago. The ones I've seen are either too big, out of my budget, too small or looks cheap. So I made my old desk work for me and husband was even kind enough to install lights on it. But it was getting cramped, and so one day Alf asked the carpenter if he could also make a vanity table after he finished with the kitchen.

Design was simple but it has lots of space. The mirror may be off but I did not want to have it painted, it has been with my mom for 16 years already.

I think the knobs made it look pretty.

Husband originally didn't want me to put anything outside the table. . .he eventually gave in :)

For lighting I just might put a desk lamp on top. I don't want to screw holes for now.

My New Kitchen

I am so happy! It's finally finished! The 3 week sacrifice was so worth it.

I love cooking with the new hob. I don't have to stir on tip toes because I can now see what's inside the pan.

I love the red tiles. I loved it even more because it was set diagonally. I saw this in one US series I was watching last year and I told myself "I should have that too!"

I love the space it provides. Husband thought we didn't have enough space for all our stuff, it turns out we have more.

I love the drawers! I don't know why, maybe because I have been deprived off it for almost a year.

Dinner anyone? Kitchen renovation was expensive so you provide the meal ;D

Our kitchen is finally having a make over and the whole house is a disaster!
Dusts everywhere. Kitchen tools in boxes...making it hard for me to just peel a potato, because I can't find the peeler! Food served from their pots. Breakfast and lunch taken in one of the upstairs room. Dinner in front of the TV. Oh and did I mention that our garage are filled with boxes and building materials that actually prevented me to pull out my good ol' washing machine just so I could do the laundry???

Oh well, everything will be finished by Saturday and I just can't wait to finally, finally put my kitchen in to good use.

But then again, after computing all expenses, I just had to ask husband, "Will we still have money to buy food?" lol!

So goodbye old kitchen. . .

...sorry but I don't think I'm gonna miss yah.

Roadtrip to Vigan

I was trying to cross-post my blogger with my multiply blog...but later decided to just re-post some old posts. Here's one from a roadtrip husband and I had last year up North of the Philippines...

Day 2...hmmm...I don't remember doing anything...I think I was just sleeping the whole time...oh I visited this fave shop in the afternoon pala, bought some cheap but cute undies again..hehehe...
...oh wait, I do remember now, that's when Alf told me that we really are going to Ilocos the next day...just the 2 of us! The only alone time we have after our wedding :D

He demanded I sleep early cause he knew how I hate waking up really early but I was so excited the next day that I woke up at 3 am, 30 minutes before the alarm went off! First time I ever did for the past months or year??

I loved this roadtrip! Ilagan to Vigan,like Manila, is also a 10 hour trip, but this one is pretty exciting because of the beautiful sceneries along the way....

The moon was still visible at 5:30am in Tuguegarao (pic is blurry though) .....

Magapit Suspension Bridge, the only suspension bridge in the country located at Lal-Lo Cagayan spawning almost 1km crossing the mighty Cagayan River connecting the municipality to the western municipalities of Cagayan leading to the Ilocos Region...

First thing we did was look for a place to stay in and found a cheap but decent one...next stop was the bank. We were to make an over the counter withdrawal, but unfortunately they were offline, I went to National Bookstore while Alf wait...

We finally went back to our hotel around 7pm...Alf was asleep by 9, while I can't sleep at all! Our room had to twin beds, but we opt to just sleep in one and keep our bags on the other one. I had to force myself to sleep cause I kept on imagining that there was someone on the other bed looking at me...spooky!

Twelve years ago my brothers and I went to the Land Transportation Office(LTO) to get ourselves Student Driver Permits.  I believe back then the permit was only good for three months.  The two got their Driver's License after that while I didn't.  They wouldn't teach me how to drive, I was only allowed to either back up or move forward.  I actually didn't mind as I got myself two new drivers who are too eager to drive me around...haha!

About four or five years later I accompanied my sister in law to LTO for her license renewal.  Got myself a permit.  This time it was good for one year but I never took the time to finally learn how to drive in that one year, BF (hubby now) was there to drive me around.

Last year husband would be away for two weeks, a month and even three months  which would leave me with a car I wouldn't have the license to drive.  Oh and there was even a time I had two, his and mother in law's.  So finally on Aug 29 last year, I picked up my lazy butt and went to the LTO to get myself a spankin' new Permit.  And what do you know just three days before it expires I finally had the guts to go back to take a written and practical exam!

Woohoo!!  After spending seven grueling hours at the LTO they gave me this....

My floors were clean and sparkly because of all the cleaning yesterday. Wiping a wet spot whenever I see one. Then came mother in law with driver in tow. Okay so it's not a requirement to remove his shoes, but can't he please wipe it at least on the rug outside??? Dirty shoe marks on my floors!!! I gasped and almost fainted. I had to do everything all over again this morning.

Some might think I'm overreacting, but my husband is OC. I just want him to come home and see a clean house before him. :) I'm not much into cleaning but before we got married we already made a deal that he cleans and I cook, do the dishes and the laundry. ;D

Husband has been in Shanghai and Hong Kong for almost a month now, and I am just soooo excited to finally have him back tomorrow. I think I was already going nuts last week, being home alone and all.

I've been busy cleaning up the house;

sprucing it up with new plants,

cleaned the fountain,

mopped the floors,

washed the curtains and tons of rugs! (no pics, rugs are still drying)

Phew! Our house is small but cleaning was a total work out gave me an excuse for missing the gym, haha!

Tomorrow morning would be bath time for our three doggies, I wouldn't want hubby to think I've been neglecting our babies ;D

Stormy Sunday

Woke up this morning hearing strong winds and the palms from our neighbor's Coconut Tree flapping angrily. Looked at our clock. 5:30am. That was when I suddenly got off the bed, changed to something decent and grabbed the car keys. No I wasn't late for anything. Haha! I just didn't want coconuts dropping in our new windshield which gave us a P4350 (about $100) dent in our pocket.

Went back to sleep. Woke up with a jolt again about an hour later to check our house of any drips. None yet.

Slept again. Woke up only to cook lunch and supposedly get ready for church. But the thing is, there was no electricity, in our house no electricity means no water and uh-oh we won't be able to open our gates too! (We haven't figured out how to work it manually)

Husband & I stayed home the whole day. Ate. Surfed. Watched TV. Ate again. Watched Videos. And just before I hit the bed at 1am (Monday), I went to the next room to get a pen and what do I see??? Carpet and Sofa bed soaking wet!!! arrrrggggghhhh. . .

Oh by the way, I don't live by the beach, that picture was taken last year on one of our "stormy" beach trips. . .

Grand Bazaar at The Big Tent

I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. I remember selling cute name tags created by my aunt at 2nd Grade. I lived in Dubai from the age of 10 until I was 14, there was a certain part of those years that I would order scented pens from my aunt in the Philippines and sell them to my classmates. In college I would buy watches and even Tamagotchis and again sell them to my friends and classmates.

My love for bazaars began when I rented a booth for a week at a school fair, but studies and later on my job kept me from joining them again. After leaving work last year I have finally had more time to join bazaars and finally have more ways of displaying my craft.

My second bazaar for the year (the first one was a total flop) is ON this weekend!!! May 17-18, 2008, which will be held at The Big Tent located along Holy Spirit Drive, Don Antonio Heights Quezon City.

First Crush. First Date. First Love. First Kiss. But we're not talking about those! First Post. Yes, that's what it is.

My first post in Blogspot.

My original blog is in multiply but having photos, reviews, links etc confuses everything. So the other day I thought to myself, "why not get myself a page in blogspot??" You think that was easy? Well it was easy of course but when I checked "kryzteta" and found out it wasn't available anymore. . . my mind went blank. I don't know what name to use anymore! I have always been kryzteta and I just can't imagine who would get that name and not write anything on it at all.

The blog was blank.

A bright light appeared just above my head. . . hahaha! That translates me having a bright idea of course. I looked for the log-on page, which wasn't easy I tell you, there are just so many things to click at here!

When I finally found it, I immediately clicked on "forgot password", typed in my yahoo email and voila! That freakin' person who registered "kryzteta" and totally left it alone was no other than me!

So here I am two days later after getting myself this cool theme typing away to whatever my fingers lead me to.
